Insects are one of the most diverse and evolutionary successful groups of organisms in the planet. Although they include numerous pests, many others play a vital role in the functioning of ecosystems, contributing to key ecological functions. For example, by behaving like predators, parasites, or parasitoids, many insects limit the growth of pests in our crops. Furthermore, some insect species stimulate and accelerate the decomposition of organic matter, improving the fertility of the soil by breaking, separating, or crumbling elements such as feces, plants, and dead animals. There are also many pollinating species, which have a direct impact on agrarian production and the proliferation of beneficial plants.

“Insect hotels” are structures made up of branches, tiles, and trunks with the objective of sheltering insects and promoting their existence and involvement in the ecosystem of crops or gardens where they’re set up. Insect hotels diversify available nesting places to a great extent, facilitating a shelter full of rooms ready to protect them during the winter, when they’re most vulnerable.
